“Your background doesn’t define your future. Your strategy does.” – Priyanka Rakshit
Priyanka Rakshit is a personal branding strategist and the founder of Platform 10x, a holistic personal branding agency that helps invisible professionals, coaches, consultants, and thought leaders transform into sought-after industry authorities.
Through strategic positioning and authentic storytelling, she enables her clients to attract opportunities rather than chase them.
With over 65 clients across India, the US, UK, and the Middle East, an organically grown LinkedIn following of 42,000+, and a weekly newsletter reaching 16,500+ professionals, Priyanka’s journey is a testament to resilience, self-belief, and intentional growth.
Early Life and Formative Struggles
Born and raised in a small town in West Bengal, Priyanka studied in a Bengali-medium school where she excelled as a topper. However, her transition to college marked the beginning of significant challenges.
She moved to Kolkata for a B.Tech in Computer Science — a field chosen more for job security than genuine interest. The shift from Bengali to English medium, coupled with an unfamiliar environment, left her struggling for years.
Despite her lack of passion for coding, Priyanka pushed through. In her later college years, she discovered a genuine interest in business and decided to pursue an MBA.
After a dedicated one-year gap preparing for CAT, she secured admission to Alliance University in Bangalore. Adjusting to yet another new city was difficult, but she persisted.
In her second year of MBA, she landed a Pre-Sales Analyst role at an MNC during campus placements. Though it wasn’t her desired field in digital marketing, she accepted it with plans to switch later.
For the first few years, she focused on settling into professional and personal life in a new city. Yet, deep down, dissatisfaction grew. She felt she was living someone else’s version of success.
The Career Turning Point
In 2022, with greater mental clarity, Priyanka made a bold move. She switched jobs to join a startup as a Social Media Manager — a role much closer to her true interests. Simultaneously, she began freelancing in LinkedIn content writing and profile optimization.
After four months at the startup, she took a leap of faith: she quit her job to pursue freelancing full-time with no safety net. The early days were uncertain. For the first two months, she balanced a part-time WFH job from 5 AM to 1 PM while building her own practice. There were moments of doubt and temptation to return to corporate stability, but she persisted.
Her breakthrough came through consistent experimentation on LinkedIn. She began posting regularly, testing formats, and learning what resonated. This self-directed journey led her to discover personal branding — then a relatively niche concept in India. Realizing she had been instinctively building her own brand, Priyanka started helping others do the same.
She collaborated with marketing firms, took on small projects, and gradually attracted inbound clients. To deepen her understanding, she joined a small agency as a content writer and quickly moved into operations. This experience gave her valuable insights into scaling and systems.
Birth of Platform 10x
In September 2023, Platform 10x unofficially began with a small, passionate team. By January 2024, it became an official entity. Today, Priyanka leads a remote team of 8 members across India. The agency focuses on three core audiences:
- Students and early professionals building LinkedIn authority for better career opportunities
- Coaches and consultants seeking done-for-you LinkedIn management

Philosophy and Core Beliefs
Priyanka’s guiding philosophy is: “Your background doesn’t define your future. Your strategy does.”
She challenges common myths and advocates three key principles:
- Authority over Visibility — Credibility with a smaller, engaged audience matters more than large but passive followings.
- Storytelling over Selling — Authentic vulnerability builds deeper connections than polished credentials.
- Systems over Hustle — Strategic positioning makes every effort more effective than constant grinding.
Personal Side
Beyond her professional achievements, Priyanka is a passionate portrait painter, an avid reader with dreams of building a home library, and a proud small-town girl with deep roots in West Bengal. Now based in Bangalore, she is a wife, homemaker, passionate cook, and mom-to-be. As a self-described introvert who once avoided speaking up, she has learned to use her voice powerfully — proving that quiet strength can create loud impact.
Future Vision
Priyanka envisions Platform 10x as more than an agency — a movement that makes personal branding accessible to all. Her goals include:
- Expanding educational offerings and community initiatives
- Reaching 100,000+ newsletter subscribers
- Working with 500+ clients
- Launching a book, podcast, and scholarship programs for underprivileged students
Golden Advice for Beginners
“Start before you’re ready. Build in public. And never apologize for taking up space.”
Here’s what I wish someone had told me when I started:
1. Your background is not a limitation, it’s your differentiation.
I grew up in a small town, studied in Bengali medium, struggled with English. I’m an introvert who now speaks at multiple platforms. Your story is your strength. Don’t hide it. Use it.
2. Authority isn’t about being the best, it’s about being the most visible in your niche.
You don’t need to know everything. You need to know more than your ideal client and be willing to share it publicly.
3. Stop waiting for permission.
I waited too long to call myself a personal branding expert. I had helped 20+ clients before I believed I could claim that title. You don’t need credentials. You need results.
4. Build systems, not just content.
Posting daily won’t save you if your positioning is weak. Get your messaging right first. Then create content that reinforces it.
5. Invest in yourself before you’re “ready.”
I hired a business coach when I had 3 clients. I bought courses when I couldn’t afford them. Invest in learning, even when, especially when, it feels uncomfortable.
6. Your network is your net worth.
The clients I’ve gotten, the opportunities I’ve received, the collaborations I’ve built, they all came from relationships, not algorithms.
7. Authenticity isn’t optional, it’s your competitive advantage.
In a world of polished, performative LinkedIn, vulnerability wins. Share your failures. Share your lessons. Share your real journey.
8. Don’t compare your Chapter 1 to someone else’s Chapter 20.
When I started, I compared myself to people with 100K followers. It paralyzed me. Focus on your own progress, not their highlight reel.
9. Build a personal brand even if you don’t think you need one.
I built mine while working a corporate job. When I left, I had a 10K+ following waiting for me. Start now. You’ll thank yourself later.
10. Remember: You’re not building a personal brand. You’re building a legacy.
Every post you write, every client you help, every person you mentor, it compounds. Keep going.
