The best time to build your personal brand is long before you need it. Manleen Kaur Sabharwal

In today’s digital-first world, visibility is currency. Used wisely, it can open doors long before you need them. While building a successful business once relied primarily on having a great product or service, today’s competitive landscape demands something more. A strong personal brand has become the edge that helps founders earn trust, build credibility and create opportunities.

The people who create lasting impact are not always the most experienced but rather those who know how to communicate their expertise, share their journey and build trust.

Among the leaders rising in this industry is Manleen Kaur Sabharwal, a solopreneur who helps founders, coaches and visionary leaders around the globe build authentic personal brands that position them as trusted voices in their industries.

Through strategy, positioning, storytelling, ghostwriting, content creation and design, she helps them communicate their expertise, build credibility and create opportunities that extend far beyond social media.

But long before she helped others build their personal brands, Manleen was trying to build one for herself. Her journey wasn’t driven by a perfectly planned roadmap or overnight success. It was shaped by curiosity, constant learning and the determination to build something of her own.

Where the Journey Began

Born and raised in Delhi, India, Manleen Kaur grew up in a family where hard work and responsibility were part of everyday life. Watching her parents manage both work and home gave her an early understanding of what it takes to stay consistent and have responsibilities.

She pursued her Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, University of Delhi. While her academic journey gave her a strong understanding of business fundamentals, she found herself increasingly drawn to branding, marketing and the psychology behind how people build trust and influence.

During college, she explored different internships and professional experiences, each helping her understand the business world from a new perspective. Yet, with every opportunity, she realised she didn’t want to follow a conventional career path. Rather than following a conventional career path, she wanted to build something she could truly call her own. That entrepreneurial mindset would eventually become the foundation of her journey into personal branding.

When Everything Clicked

Like many professionals starting out, Manleen didn’t begin with a clear niche. She experimented with different kinds of content, shared marketing observations, analysed brand campaigns and explored whatever sparked her curiosity at the time.

In the early days, she worked with clients for free and took on projects at minimal rates to build her portfolio, gain hands-on experience and better understand the kind of work she wanted to pursue. Every project helped her refine her skills, while every new challenge gave her a deeper understanding of branding, content and communication.

As she continued sharing her thoughts online, LinkedIn became a space to experiment, understand her audience and discover her true interests.

Over time, she realised that whenever she opened LinkedIn, she spent far more time studying founders than brands. She was fascinated by how individuals shared their experiences, communicated their ideas and built trust through their personal stories.

That curiosity gradually turned into clarity.

She realised she enjoyed understanding personal brands far more than managing company pages. More importantly, she saw the opportunities a strong personal brand could create. Founders who consistently shared their knowledge weren’t just building an audience. They were attracting partnerships, clients, speaking opportunities and trust long before making a sales pitch.

That realisation changed the direction of her business and marked the beginning of her journey into personal branding, a path she continues to build on today.

Building Demand Before the Product Exists

Every entrepreneur remembers their first paying client.

For Manleen, her first paid consultation was with the founder of a sportswear brand who wanted to grow his social media presence. Since the product was still in the planning stage, the obvious approach would have been to focus on building the brand’s social media pages.

Instead, she offered a different perspective.

She encouraged him to start building his personal brand before launching the product. By sharing his journey, documenting the process and consistently showing up online, he could build trust, create visibility and develop a community long before the product was ready for the market.

She believed that when people connect with the founder first, they naturally become more invested in what the founder is building. Rather than spending months developing a product and only then trying to attract attention, founders can build credibility and demand alongside the product itself.

Since then, one belief has remained at the heart of her work:

Your personal brand should start working long before you need it to.

Building Her Own Brand

Before Manleen helped others build their personal brands, she knew she couldn’t ask others to do something she wasn’t willing to do herself.

Starting from scratch, she began documenting her own journey on LinkedIn, sharing lessons from building a business, personal branding, content strategy, the mistakes she made and the experiences that shaped her along the way.

As she built her personal brand, consistency became one of her biggest priorities. For an entire year, she posted on LinkedIn three times a week without missing a single week.

Manleen believes you don’t have to post seven days a week to build visibility. You simply need to choose a schedule you can sustain because long-term consistency will always outperform short bursts of activity.

Over time, that consistency began to compound. Today, she has built a growing LinkedIn community of more than 10,000 professionals, generated lakhs of organic impressions and continues to share practical insights that help professionals build personal brands with clarity, confidence and purpose.

Turning Expertise into Opportunity

Today, her work revolves around four key pillars:

  1. Personal Brand Strategy
Helping professionals define their positioning, messaging, content strategy and outreach system to build authority, attract qualified clients and create long-term business growth.
  2. LinkedIn Profile Optimisation
Transforming LinkedIn profiles into high-converting personal landing pages that communicate credibility, showcase expertise and convert visitors from the very first visit.
  3. Ghostwriting & Storytelling
Writing content that reflects each client’s voice while turning their experiences, ideas and stories into engaging content that builds authority and meaningful connections with the audience.
  4. Content Design & Visual Branding
Designing LinkedIn visual assets that strengthen both the message and the individual’s personal brand.

The impact of this approach can be seen through the results:

  • Leadership Consultant: Grew from an inactive profile to 100,000+ impressions and 1,000+ followers in just 30 days.
  • AI Founder: Generated 500,000+ impressions in a single month while growing from 1,000 to 10,000+ followers within four months.
  • Change Management Consultant: Achieved 48,659 impressions on a single post and generated 15+ inbound leads within 30 days.
  • Product Strategist: Increased LinkedIn followers by 667% within 90 days.

Every founder has a story worth telling. Through her work, Manleen helps make sure the right people hear it.

Beyond the Brand

Beyond strategy sessions and content calendars, Manleen is someone who values genuine relationships, clear communication and showing up when it matters. Those who work with her often describe her as approachable, curious, dependable and someone who believes that good communication is just as important as good ideas.

One lesson that has stayed with her while building her business is that skills can always be learned but accountability is much harder to teach. Whether she’s working with clients or collaborating with freelancers, she believes communication, ownership and meeting deadlines are what turn talented individuals into reliable professionals.

Outside of work, Manleen enjoys travelling, discovering new places, listening to BTS and unwinding with a good series.

These moments help her disconnect, recharge and return with fresh ideas.

The Philosophy Behind Her Work

A few principles have consistently shaped the way Manleen approaches personal branding:

Depth over vanity metrics: Prioritising meaningful engagement, trust and long-term business growth over likes alone.

The right visibility over viral visibility: Reaching the right audience creates far more opportunities than reaching everyone.

Every founder has a story worth telling: Stories already exist within a journey, they just need to be recognised and expressed clearly.

Your brand should sound like you: People connect with personalities, not polished personas. The strongest personal brands reflect the way you naturally think, speak and communicate.

Consistency with intention: Showing up consistently matters but so does taking the time to reflect, improve and change direction when something isn’t working.

While platforms, trends and algorithms will continue to evolve, Manleen believes these principles will always remain relevant because personal branding is about people.

Looking Ahead

As Manleen looks forward, her vision extends far beyond building a successful personal branding business.

Helping more people build from scratch

One of her biggest goals is to help more business owners, coaches, freelancers and aspiring entrepreneurs build personal brands with confidence. She hopes to guide people through every stage of the journey.

Expanding her business

She aims to expand her business globally while building a close-knit team that shares her passion for helping people build authentic personal brands. Rather than growing for the sake of growth, her focus is on delivering meaningful results without compromising on quality.

Launching digital products

One of her long-term goals is to create practical digital resources, templates, workshops, and courses that make personal branding more accessible. She wants people to have the tools and guidance to build their own brands with confidence, even if they are just getting started.

Growing beyond LinkedIn

Manleen hopes to establish a meaningful presence on Instagram, X, Substack and YouTube, sharing practical insights, behind-the-scenes experiences and honest conversations about building a business from scratch and navigating life along the way.

Creating a life with freedom

Beyond business, Manleen hopes to build a life where success also means having the freedom to pause, travel without guilt, experience different cultures and create memories with the people she loves. One dream she still hopes to tick off her bucket list is attending a BTS concert.

Lessons for Those Starting Out

From her journey, Manleen offers a few pieces of advice:

Don’t wait for the perfect moment: You’ll never feel completely ready. Start with what you know and improve as you go.

Experiment before niching down: Many people will tell you to pick a niche from day one but doing so too early can limit experiences. Try different things, stay curious and let your interests guide you towards the work you truly enjoy.

Build your personal brand before you need it: Don’t wait until you’re looking for clients or launching a business. Trust takes time to build, so start before you feel the need for a personal brand. You’ll thank yourself later.

Learn to communicate your expertise: Great work matters but people need to understand your value before they can appreciate it.

Be willing to change what’s not working: Consistency is important but so is reflection. Don’t keep repeating the same strategy just because you’ve invested time in it.

Remember why you started: Building something meaningful takes time. Stay connected to your purpose, especially on the days when progress feels slow.

Don’t rely only on inbound opportunities: Don’t wait for people to find you. Start meaningful conversations, build relationships and reach out to the people you genuinely want to work with. Your next opportunity begins with a simple message.

Build systems before you need them: Create systems and processes that help your business grow consistently, even on the days when you don’t feel your most productive.

Closing Thoughts

Looking back, Manleen doesn’t believe she had everything figured out when she started. She simply had the curiosity to begin, the courage to experiment and the willingness to keep learning.

As she continues building her journey, she hopes her story encourages others to take that first step, stay open to new possibilities and remember that every meaningful career starts with the decision to begin.
